Free conference programme announced for Compounding World Expo

The conference programme has been announced for the Compounding World Expo, which takes place at Messe Essen on 3-4 June 2020. There will be two free-to-attend conference theatres focused on compounding and they will host industry debates, training seminars, technical talks and market forecasts.

AMI is holding three business debates at the expo focused on technical compounds, masterbatch and cable compounds. They will feature senior representatives from ACI, ACOME, Albis, Eurotec, Lifocolor Farben, PolyOne, Prysmian, Sirmax, and Washington Penn. There will also be a discussion on REACH legislation hosted by the European Masterbatchers and Compounders (EuMBC) and featuring speakers from LyondellBasell and Mixer.

The training seminars will cover a range of practical topics including: solving venting problems on twin-screw extruders; computer simulation of reactive extrusion; trouble-shooting compounding problems; ensuring REACH compliance; and predicting the impact of fillers on compound properties.

There will also be a busy programme of more than 20 technical talks in between the debates and training seminars in both conference theatres. Topics being covered by expert speakers include: conductive compounds; polymer stabilisation; functional fillers; continuous mixers; pelletisation; compatibilisers; flame retardants; quality control; antimicrobials; compounding TPEs; improving the properties of recycled plastics; and measuring and understanding extruder wear.

Each day will start with a keynote address. On the first day, Andrew Reynolds, director of Advance Bidco (the owners of AMI), will provide insights into global trends in plastics compounding markets. The second day will start with a presentation by Compounding World’s editor-in-chief, Chris Smith, on “five compounding innovations to watch”.
