What are the biggest challenges facing the market today, and how can this be overcome?

The market today continues to grapple with the lingering effects of the pandemic, even nearly four years later. The challenges include disrupted supply chains, high levels of speculative inventories, and a shift in workforce priorities. To overcome these obstacles, a combination of foresight and effective communication is essential.

In your opinion, what do you consider to be the greatest development in your industry in the last decade?

Over the past decade, the most significant development in our industry has been the advancement of machine connectivity. This progress has granted us access to unprecedented amounts of data, enabling more informed decision-making about our processes. This newfound data-driven approach has led to remarkable improvements in efficiency and the ability to handle more complex processes than ever before. The ability to harness this wealth of information has truly transformed our industry.

How do you see the sector developing in the next five to ten years?

Looking ahead to the next five to ten years, we can expect continued technological advancements to play a pivotal role in shaping the sector. The evolution of machine learning, in particular, promises to bring about changes that may currently be beyond our imagination. These innovations will likely lead to further automation, optimization, and customization of processes within our industry, ultimately enhancing productivity and competitiveness.

At the upcoming AMI Plastics World Expo in North America, I will be focusing on the critical topic of waste reduction through blending and material handling. My presentation aims to provide valuable insights into how auxiliary equipment suppliers, like ABS, perceive the challenge of reducing the carbon footprint associated with polymers in our society.
