Exhibitor Interview: CAROLINA PEC

We caught up with Heather Bass, Vice President & General Manager of Carolina PEC, to discuss the company’s approach to technical cleaning and testing of filtration systems. With nearly three decades of industry leadership, Carolina PEC is at the forefront of supporting sustainable practices in polymer manufacturing.

As they prepare to showcase their solutions at the upcoming Compounding World Expo, Heather shares insights into the company's commitment to advancing the circular economy and their vision for the future.

Can you provide a brief overview of your company and the products/ services you'll be showcasing at the event?

Carolina Process Equipment Cleaning (Carolina PEC), formerly known as Carolina Filters Inc., specializes in the technical cleaning and testing of metallic filtration systems and process equipment. With nearly 30 years of industry leadership, Carolina PEC has supported polymer customers in resin, film, and fiber manufacturing. As we continue to evolve, we are expanding our expertise to include the processing and cleaning of filtration systems for post-consumer recycled (PCR) materials, ensuring sustainable solutions for the circular economy.

What recent trends or developments in the industry are you most excited about, and how do your products/ services align with them?

Carolina PEC is excited about the growing trend towards using recycled materials in the production of high-quality polymer products. Filtration is critical in this process, and having a partner that offers sustainable cleaning solutions is essential for supporting the circular economy. Our services are perfectly aligned with these trends by providing eco-friendly cleaning options that maintain the integrity and performance of filtration systems used not only in recycling processes but also in critical resin production and extrusion applicaions.

Could you share a success story or case study demonstrating how your products/ services have benefited a customer?

One of our customers, a resin producer for polyethylene bottle manufacturing, needed to incorporate post-consumer recycled (PCR) materials into their resin while maintaining the quality of virgin resin. Traditional chemical depolymerization methods were ineffective at removing the inorganic byproducts introduced by the PCR material. Carolina PEC, through our Deecom technology, provided a safe and sustainable alternative to chemical depolymerization. This method delivered a cleaner filter with reduced post-depolymerization processing, enabling the customer to achieve their quality goals more efficiently, reducing cost and turnaround time.

Will you be conducting any demonstrations or interactive activities at the event? If so, what can attendees expect?

No demonstrations or interactive activities are planned for this event.

What are your company's goals for the future, and how do you see yourselves contributing to the evolving industry landscape?

Carolina PEC aims to continue supporting the polymer industry by offering the world’s most diverse and sustainable cleaning technologies under one roof. Our goal is to not only meet the evolving needs for cleaning metallic filtration systems but also to extend our expertise to a wide array of processing equipment used throughout the manufacturing process.

What are you most looking forward to at this year’s show?

I am looking forward to reconnecting with past participants and learning about the latest innovations and developments they are bringing to the industry.
