Exhibitor Interview: Vartega

Vartega, a leader in carbon fiber recycling, will be exhibiting at the Plastics Recycling World Expo this November.

We spoke with them to learn about their innovative solutions, industry trends, and what attendees can expect at their booth.

Can you provide a brief overview of your company and the products/ services you'll be showcasing at the event?

At Vartega, we recycle carbon fiber, at scale, into a ready-made format for thermoplastic compounding. We’re a drop-in replacement for virgin chopped carbon fiber, offering equivalent properties but at a significantly lower cost and with a drastically reduced carbon footprint. This win-win-win solution is also easy to integrate into existing manufacturing processes using traditional loss-in-weight feeders.

What recent trends or developments in the industry are you most excited about, and how do your products/ services align with them?

Leading manufacturers are looking for pathways to increase the recycled content in their products, reduce the CO2-e of their supply chain, and create circularity for their end products back to their raw materials.  Vartega is solving the world’s toughest recycling challenges to help make that vision a reality.

Could you share a success story or case study demonstrating how your products/ services have benefited a customer?

Vartega’s lower cost carbon fiber is enabling automakers to replace metal parts with lighter and less complex injection molded components, enabling weight reduction in their vehicles while keeping costs neutral or lower as well.  Every kilogram of weight reduction in a new vehicle results in CO2 and energy savings that are many times greater than the savings from the recycling process itself (which is also substantial).

Will you be conducting any demonstrations or interactive activities at the event? If so, what can attendees expect?

Happy hour with our team, which is a very popular part of our offering.

What are your company's goals for the future, and how do you see yourselves contributing to the evolving industry landscape?

There’s no reason anyone should be chopping virgin carbon fiber anymore.  Carbon fiber on spools should be used for high-value continuous tow applications.  Chopped carbon fiber should come from recycling sources like Vartega.

What are you most looking forward to at this year’s show?

Happy hour with old friends from the industry.
